Reports started coming in at 7 am in the morning (UK time), the Sun reported, while the issue seems to have been resolved as the app is live once again.

Until 10 am in the morning, Twitter was being flooded with posts from WhatsApp users stating that they weren’t able to send or receive any messages since the morning.

According to outage tracker Down Detector, WhatsApp was having issues globally and hotspots for user complaints seemed to be focused in central Europe, South Africa, Southeast Asia and China, added the Sun.

Reports of an outage were still trickling in after 8 am on Thursday morning. While it seems that the problem has largely been resolved as of now, for most WhatsApp users, the company is yet to make an official announcement in regards to what went wrong.

It has been a few bad weeks for Facebook as far as service operations are concerned as back on June 6, Instagram, which is a photo-sharing app also owned by Instagram, stopped working for a large number of users globally.

Facebook eventually admitted that it found a bug in the Android version of the Instagram app, however, the app once again went down for users around the world on 12th June. This time around, Instagram users weren’t able to see new photos in their feed, making the app redundant while other users reported of being unable to leave comments on any existing photo, as well.
